RAWM Leviathan V4 packaging and content

Shape & Size

The RAWM Leviathan V4 is a large, right-handed symmetrical mouse measuring 126.7 x 63.7 x 40 mm. The hump placement is toward the back and minimal, the front flares slightly outward, and the side-curvature is slightly inward. The overall shape is very round with no aggressive curvatures or flares, which makes the mouse very comfortable and suitable for a larger variety of users.

While the shape-features themselves are similar to other mice, the overall feel is unique and does not seem to be a direct clone of another product. I am glad that more large mice are being made. With small mice being more popular, it is harder to find new and exciting mice for large hands. That said, the safe shape and overall design still make the mouse suitable for medium and possibly small-handed users too.

Coating & Grip-tape

The coating feels good and is in line with many mid-tier coatings that are common on most mice. It feels very smooth but not in a way that makes it feel slippery. It is better than cheap mice, but does not quite compete with coatings from brands like Razer, Endgame Gear, or Zowie.

The mouse also comes included with grip tape for the sides and top. In my experience, these did not add any additional grip to the mouse. It could be that it is just my skin that does not work well with the grip tape, but I found it to be unnecessary, especially since the coating itself it quite good.

Build Quality

Build quality is very good. There is no flex or creaking on the sides or top. There is a very slight flex on the bottom when pressure is applied directly to it, but not in a way that could occur during regular usage.

Weight

The weight sits at 55 grams. While I prefer something a little lighter, the weight is quite good considering its large size and because it has no cutouts in the shell whatsoever.

Skates

The mouse has two large white PTFE skates. They are very smooth right out of the box and much better than the vast majority of other mice. They are great for both cloth and glass.

Buttons & Scroll Wheel

The main buttons use TTC Optical V2 switches rated for 100M clicks. They have great tactility, very close to mechanical switches, and are very easy to spam-click. There is no pre- or post-travel and no side-to-side wobble.

The side buttons have decent tactility, but could be a bit better. They are easy to spam-click with no noticeable pre- or post-travel and no wobble.

The scroll wheel uses the RAESHA Optical Encoder. It has great tactility while also being very easy to scroll up and down fast. Usually encoders have either good tactility or are easy to scroll fast. This has both, making it an incredibly good scroll wheel.

Sensor & Performance

The Leviathan V4 uses the PAW3950 sensor and supports 8000 Hz polling rate. It feels flawless to use, and I had no issues playing with this mouse.

Conclusion

The RAWM Leviathan V4 costs $89.99. It has a great large size with a unique and very comfortable shape that will fit a large variety of hand-sizes. Build quality is excellent. The weight is good, especially for its large size. The skates are excellent and smoother than the vast majority of other pre-installed skates. The optical switches are amazing. They are both tactile and easy to spam-click. The encoder is very unique in that it has great tactility while also being easy to scroll up and down with little force. Highly recommended if the shape and size seem like they will fit your hand-size and grip-style.
