Shape & Size

The Endgame Gear OP1w 4k v2 is a small, symmetrical mouse measuring 118 x 61 x 37 mm. Its shape matches previous OP1 models and is uniquely designed by Endgame Gear, not copied from other mice. It has a moderate back hump, making it ideal for claw grip users with most hand sizes. Despite being small, I can comfortably claw grip it with relatively large hands (20.5 x 10.5 cm). Both the sides and the front flare are flat, giving it a box-like feel. Usually, I prefer mice with curved sides, but here I find the flat sides comfortable because the mouse is already narrow.

Coating & Grip-tape

The coating on the Endgame Gear OP1w 4k v2 is excellent. I often compare other mouse coatings to Endgame Gear's because it feels grippy and high-quality. Very few brands match this coating. The mouse includes side grips, but I prefer it without them. The only issue is that the coating easily shows fingerprints and oil, but this is purely cosmetic and does not affect grip performance.

Build Quality

The build quality of the OP1w 4k v2 is outstanding. There is no noticeable flex or creaking on the sides or top shell, even under heavy pressure. The bottom shell flexes slightly when pressed directly, but this doesn't affect normal use. The mouse also doesn't rattle when shaken.

Weight & Feet/Skates

The Endgame Gear OP1w 4k v2 weighs 58.5 grams, which is somewhat heavier than other new small mice. However, the weight is very well balanced, and I can still perform well using it. Still, I would prefer it to be lighter, closer to competing mice. If wireless connectivity isn't necessary, consider the wired OP1 8k v2, which is lighter at 49.5 grams.

Buttons & Scroll Wheel

The OP1w 4k v2 features hot-swappable switches, accessible through screws on the mouse's underside. Endgame Gear sells switch packs to easily change switches.

By default, the mouse uses Kailh GX switches, rated for 80 million clicks. These mechanical switches feel very light but do not cause accidental clicks. They are great for fast clicking. I appreciate that they are hot-swappable, allowing easy replacement or experimentation.

The scroll wheel uses a Kailh Black mechanical encoder with 24 steps per rotation. This scroll wheel is tactile yet easy to scroll. Unlike some tactile scroll wheels, it doesn't require much force, making it comfortable to use.

Sensor & Performance

The OP1w 4k v2 is equipped with the PAW3950 sensor and the Nordic nRF52840 MCU. This upgrade from the older PAW3395 sensor improves the mouse's performance.

Conclusion

The wireless OP1w 4k v2 costs $129.99, while the wired OP1 8k v2 is $89.99. These prices align well with similar products but are higher than budget options. Although I would prefer it lighter, the mouse's build quality and premium coating are excellent. With the upgraded PAW3950 sensor, its internal components match other high-end mice. Its unique shape is suitable for many users, especially for claw and fingertip grips. Other standout features include the tactile yet easy-to-scroll encoder and excellent hot-swappable switches. Overall, the OP1w 4k v2 and OP1 8k v2 are great choices for anyone looking for a high-quality, premium mouse.
