Shape & Size

The EWEADN S9 is a large, symmetrical mouse measuring 127 x 65 x 41 mm. With its large size and minimal back hump, it comfortably suits both claw and palm grips for most users. Those with smaller hands, however, might find it slightly oversized. It has inward curved sides that improve grip and ease of lifting, along with a slight outward flare at the front. The overall shape closely resembles the popular Razer Viper V3 Pro.

Coating & Grip Tape

The coating on the EWEADN S9 is good, although slightly more grip would have been preferable. Due to its large surface area, this shortcoming doesn't significantly affect the mouse overall. The mouse also includes grip tape for the sides, back, and main buttons if additional grip is desired. A nice feature is that the grip tape matches the mouse's color, maintaining the mouse's aesthetic.

Build Quality

The EWEADN S9 features excellent build quality, feeling exceptionally solid throughout. There is virtually no flex on any part of the mouse, except for minor flex on the bottom when directly pressured, which isn't noticeable during normal usage. Additionally, it produces no creaking noises under pressure and doesn't rattle when shaken.

Weight & Feet/Skates

The EWEADN S9's primary drawback is its weight, ranging from 63 to 65 grams depending on the model. While not excessively heavy given its robust build and larger size, there's potential for weight reduction, particularly compared to the lighter Razer Viper V3 Pro, which weighs only 54 grams.

The skates on the EWEADN S9 are decent but could be improved. Pure white PTFE skates would offer smoother glide compared to the current black skates. Still, the overall glide remains good enough.

Buttons & Scroll Wheel

The standard S9 model uses Huano Blue Shell White Dot mechanical switches rated for 50 million clicks, having a medium operating force. Meanwhile, both the S9 Pro and S9 Ultra variants use higher-quality Kailh Sword GM X mechanical switches rated for 100 million clicks, providing a somewhat lighter operating force.

The buttons have virtually no pre- or post-travel, and they show no side-to-side wobble.

The scroll wheel uses a mechanical F-Switch encoder with minimal tactility, resulting in a smooth, quiet scrolling experience. Personally, I prefer more pronounced tactile steps for more tactility.

Sensor & Performance

The standard S9 and S9 Pro both use the PAW3395 sensor, whereas the S9 Ultra uses the newer and better PAW3950 sensor. While the standard S9 supports a 1K polling rate, the Pro and Ultra versions feature an 8K polling rate.

Testing the S9 Ultra, it had great performance and accurate tracking, matching the standards of other high-end mice also using the PAW3950 sensor.

Conclusion

The EWEADN S9 is priced at $55.99, the S9 Pro at $64.99, and the S9 Ultra at $69.99. It offers exceptional build quality and performance at a competitive price point. The main downside is its slightly heavier weight (63-65 grams), although this does not significantly detract from the overall experience seeing as it is quite a large mouse with good quality. If you're interested in a mouse resembling the shape and size of the Razer Viper V3 Pro at a lower price and don't mind the increase in weight, the EWEADN S9 is a good choice.
