Shape & Size
The UNIUS Black Lotus is a small-to-medium-sized symmetrical gaming mouse, measuring 119.5 x 64 x 38.5 mm. It features a moderate back hump, a flat front flare, and flat sides, creating a very balanced shape tailored for right-handed users. This design closely resembles the legendary Endgame Gear OP1 but stands slightly wider and taller, with a more pronounced back flare. Unlike the OP1, the sensor on the Black Lotus is more centered, providing a balanced feeling during gameplay.
Coating & Grip-tape
Constructed with a carbon fiber composite material, the UNIUS Black Lotus offers a unique feel that might not be the grippiest for everyone. For my hands, grip tape was essential. Fortunately, the mouse comes generously equipped with two sets of grip-tape patches in various sizes and shapes, including four complete sets specifically for the main buttons, sides, and side buttons.
Build Quality
Thanks to its premium carbon fiber composite construction, the build quality of the UNIUS Black Lotus is outstanding. Despite its ultralight design, the mouse remains exceptionally solid, with no noticeable flexing or squeaking when pressure is applied. Moreover, shaking the mouse results in no rattling or internal noise, confirming the robustness and attention to detail in its design.
Weight & Feet/Skates
Weighing just 39 grams, the Black Lotus achieves its impressively low weight through the use of carbon fiber composite materials and strategically placed shell cutouts. This ultralight build is perfectly balanced, slightly shifted towards the front for optimized handling. The stock skates provide excellent glide straight out of the box and noticeably improve with use. The package also includes three additional sets of skates along with a generous 40-dot skates pack, ensuring longevity and customization.
Buttons & Scroll Wheel
The main buttons utilize Huano Transparent Yellow Shell White Dot switches rated for 80 million clicks. These switches provide very high tactility but require a slightly more force to actuate, resulting in a very satisfying and responsive feel with zero pre- or post-travel. The side buttons offer an equally impressive tactile feedback with no noticeable travel, aligning closely with the quality of the main switches. Additionally, there is no button wobble. The scroll wheel is equipped with an FSWQ Dust Proof Encoder, delivering strong tactility and requiring moderate force for scrolling and actuation.
Sensor & Performance
The UNIUS Black Lotus is equipped with the PAW3950 sensor, ensuring flawless performance in both gaming and productivity tasks. Supporting an 8000Hz polling rate without needing an additional dongle, it maintains high responsiveness and accuracy at all times.
Conclusion
Priced at $129, the UNIUS Black Lotus presents itself as a premium gaming mouse offering great value. Its exceptional shape closely resembles the celebrated OP1, enhanced by an ultralight 39-gram weight and robust carbon fiber composite build. The combination of top-tier buttons, a highly tactile scroll wheel, and flawless sensor performance solidify its place in the competitive market. Additionally, the extensive assortment of grip tape and skates included in the package further enhances its value.
